Pondering

I have been "pondering" for days and days. I could say all this pondering has resulted in my deciding to take another break from the blog. It hasn't. What is has resulted in is....confusion (my habitual state of affairs).

I am weary and discouraged. I have begun to think I have missed it once again. I seem to be forever answering a "call" that isn't there. I am well into my sixth decade of life and still wondering if I somehow managed to slip through with a missing part. You know....the one that tells you what you were meant to do.

I have always tried to be honest here. Now I need to be honest with myself. Writing may not be what I am meant to do. I've set the book aside, wondering how I ever imagined it was something I should do. I may set it all aside, the blog, the FB, the writing.....  perhaps it's time to go back to my books and knitting needles.

In the meantime, I send you all wishes for the most joyous Christmas ever.

With much love,
Linda

  1. Don't we all feel this way at times? My blogging is practically at a stand still; I think I've written about everything I know. lol Just rest a while; enjoy Christmas first.

  3. I believe you have a gift. It may or may not be your "calling," but you are living out your faith! You are blessing others with your words and The Word----And I'm certain James would approve.

    See you tomorrow dear friend.

  4. Take a rest if you need it, Linda. But please don't give up! Your sweet and generous voice is an important one out here. And finish the book - just for the heck of it. I think you might like that sense of completion. Love to you this Advent Monday night.

    ponder is an interesting word.

  6. I am nodding and saying amen to all that has been said here. I know this feeling of tired--of coming up against the brick wall, my friend. Oh, my goodness, I wish I could sit with you right now. I want to tell you the story of Leaf by Niggle that Tim Keller shares in his new book. It's a story about Tolkien, when he was working on Lord of the Rings and how he was in a discouraged place...

Maybe you can google it? Here, I found a shorter version:

    http://redeemercitytocity.com/content/com.redeemer.digitalContentArchive.LibraryItem/503/Hope_for_Your_Work.pdf

page 6. In the book, he goes into more detail and it is very moving. In short, what it says is that the work is where God is. In the joy of the work.

    Love you, my friend. Praying.

  8. There is not another you,
    in your
    community, state, nation,
    region, world.

    Your words
    are unique
    & needed

    but only as you
    wanna share.

    Don't measure
    or do
    anything
    by how
    and when and
    where you think
    others care -

    because you will
    always be off
    wrong
    and short
    on calculating
    their love -

    especially when
    it's the kind
    gifted from
    above.

  9. I know what you mean about that missing part--I really do.

I also know how much your words mean to me. Praying you will sense God's pleasure in you as you ponder.

  10. I agree heartily with all that has been said here, Linda. You are a gifted writer and you should just enjoy the gift. Write when you want about what you want because it will always be inspiring and welcome to those who enjoy your style. And we all feel discouraged from time to time about our walk and just life in general. Rest and be assured that you are doing a wonderful work through this blog by blessing many.
    Love,
    Sandy

  12. I often feel the same way. My writing is not the quality it takes for the best seller list, but if one word encourages or strengthens a person's walk with God then that was worth all of the writing.

Our calling is to be who you are. He delights in you just the way you are... open and honest is refreshing and delightful.

Sharing the love of God in words is a gift you have. Doubts are only natural for any of us when we compare with others... but God sees only you. You shine brightly and give a glimmer of hope to your world. We have never had so much opportunity to influence so many as we can with technology.

Take a deep breath, drink a hot cup of tea, say a prayer of thanks... and take up that pen again.

    Love you sweet lady.
