Warren

He entered our lives at a time
when we needed
to see God's love
to feel His touch
to know He heard and cared.

An ordinary Grandfatherly man,
the outer covering for a heart like His
listening to my fears
speaking words of comfort and wisdom
wrapping me in a warm embrace.

Called to minister to others
the years slipped quietly by
the telephone ringing one afternoon
that gentle voice from the past
running back to those out-stretched arms.

My contribution to One Stop Poetry.

Blessings,
Linda

  1. This reminds me of my first pastor. He truly had a pastor's heart. He was a rare treasure on this earth.

  2. It's a beautiful tribute, Linda. I think we've lost the idea that poetry can be about honoring and paying tribute. But you caught it here.
