Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers to-day; And give us not to think so far away As the uncertain harvest; keep us here All simply in the springing of the year.

Oh, give us pleasure in the orchard white, Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night; And make us happy in the happy bees, The swarm dilating round the perfect trees.
And make us happy in the darting bird That suddenly above the bees is heard, The meteor that thrusts in with needle bill, And off a blossom in mid air stands still.
For this is love and nothing else is love, The which it is reserved for God above To sanctify to what far ends He will, But which it only needs that we fulfil. |
lovely post.
ReplyDeleteyou made me smile about photographing the humming bird.
Linda, I LOVE your new quilt--- bea-u-ti-ful!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love your shots of the flowers... and that hummingbird!! You caught that one perfectly... so well worth the wait, dear friend... so well worth the wait! Believe it or not, your shot is my first hummingbird peak of the season. I haven't seen any of those little guys around here yet, though we do have lots of other families in town (and lots of nests being built too :) Hopefully we'll have oodles of new babies in the weeks to come; I just love watching them come to the feeders with their mamas. Such a priceless picture of devotion... of mamas fulfilling their God-given role. Truly an example for me... :)
Have a lovely week ahead, Linda!!
